Weds 25th:

Traditional Folk Singing Session. Unaccompanied singing session of British and Irish traditional or contemporary folk songs, with chorus songs, ballads and shanties all being welcome – Bay Horse Inn, 8 Cistern Street, Totnes, TQ9 5SP, 8:30pm. FREE

Go Tell Alice. The guitar/sax duo host their long-standing open mic night for duos and solo performers only, wherever possible giving a three song set to all; pa provided – The Albert Inn, 32 Bridgetown, Totnes, TQ9 5AD, 7:30pm till 10:00pm. FREE

Open Mic/Jam Night. Hosted by guitarist Jim Low and bass player Kathie Johnston, normally seen together as the duo Southern comfort, performing an eclectic mix of acoustic covers of the likes of Clapton, The Eagles and The Kinks .The Bullers Arms, 4 The Strand, Brixham, TQ5 8EH, 9:00pm till 11:15pm. Steve Ashley. London-born singer/songwriter, one-time member of the Albion Country Band, Ragged Robin and The Steve Ashley Band, here as a solo – Caroline’s Kitchen, Churston Farm Shop, Dartmouth Road, Brixham, TQ5 0LL, TQ5 0LL, 7:30pm, £12

The Old Dogs Blues Band. Three-member traditional and modern blues covers band – The Long Bar, Union Lane, Brixham, TQ5 8DY, 9:00pm till 11:30pm. FREE

Cargo. Brixham-based four-piece fronted by David Thomas playing covers of funky pop, blues and soul classics – Queens Arms, 31 Station Hill, Brixham, TQ5 8BN, 9:00pm till 11:00pm. FREE

The Stone Angels. Covers and originals from youthful Torquay classic rock duo. The Dartmouth Inn, 28 Warland, Totnes, TQ9 5EL, 9:00pm till 11:55pm. FREE

 

The Simmertones. 9-piece ska band named after the classic ska tune Simmer Down by the Wailers mixing original tunes with covers of ska classics, here for a Halloween party. The Pigs Nose Inn, East Prawle, Kingsbridge, TQ7 2BY, 8:00pm, £8

Georgie Fame.  Keyboard player and singer who has enjoyed considerable solo success as well as working with the likes of Allan Price, Van Morrison and Bill Wyman. The Flavel Arts Centre, Flavel Place, Dartmouth, TQ6 9ND, 7:30pm, £25

Benny Guitar Carr.  –The Devon-based frontman of the funky rockin’ blues band, here as a solo combining slide guitar with cajon, drum kick pedal and tambourine. The Dolphin Inn, 5 Market Street, Dartmouth, TQ6 9QE, 9:00pm till 11:00pm. 


Sun 29th

Jazz Lab. Improvisational, avante garde jazz played by freeform pianist and University of Plymouth music lecturer Sam Richards, bassist David George, trumpeter Tim Sayer and friends. Bay Horse Inn, 8 Cistern Street, Totnes, TQ9 5SP, 8:00pm. FREE

Little Big Band. Taunton-based three-piece featuring vocalist and pianist Jason Baxter with drummer Paul McGrath and saxophonist Bob Corrick offering a mix of jazz, blues, boogie and swing. The Church House Inn, Harberton, Totnes, TQ9 7SF, 7:00pm till 10:30pm. FREE

The Craving. Duo of singer Lisa and guitarist Dave from the Totnes-based four-piece Secondnature with some acoustic blues, folk and rock covers, but not to be confused with the Plymouth indie rock combo of the same name! The Hermitage, 8 Mill Street, Kingsbridge, TQ7 1ED, 4:30pm - 7:00pm. FREE.
